Transforming Stress and Burn Out Syndrome
Summary
The UK is facing an epidemic of stress related illness and burn out syndrome. The Health and Safety Executive in the UK estimate that about half a million people in the UK experience stress at a level they believe is making them ill and that up to five million people feel 'extremely' stressed by their work. While some stress is positive and inspires motivation, excessive stress undermines performance, is costly to employers and can make people ill.
Too much stress factors into either exacerbating existing health complaints or being the cause of many others. Left to its own devices, excessive stress can rapidly develop into ‘burn out syndrome’, a state of physical and mental exhaustion.

SPECIAL TOPIC : the adrenal glands are known as the anti-stress glands of the body, often being described as a reserve tank that supports the body and mind during stressful times. No bigger than a walnut and weighing less than a grape, the adrenals coordinate our reaction to stress of all kinds, real or imagined. However, due to the tremendous stresses that we put ourselves under, psychologiocal as well as physical, the adrenals take a beating and over time can no longer maintain a high level of physical and mental health.
Hypoadrenia is a condition whereby, although there is no disease state present, the adrenals have been overtaxed to the point of depletion causing many of the above mentioned symptoms.
